Rubio, Cruz praised Trump’s move to designate N. Korea terrorist state

For years, the U.S. designated the North Korean regime of Kim Jung Il as being a state sponsor of terrorism, but in 2oo8, outgoing President George W. Bush lifted that label from the Communist dictatorship.

Yes, it was Bush, not Obama, who lifted the designation.

But now the winds of change have blown through Washington, D.C., as President Trump has announced that the U.S. has once again assigned the terrorism designation to the rogue nation of N. Korea.

"Today the United States is designating North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism. Should have happened a long time ago. Should have happened years ago.”-President Trump

"This designation will impose further sanctions and penalties on North Korea ... and supports our maximum pressure campaign to isolate the murderous regime,” said Trump during a cabinet meeting.

During his recent trip to Asia, President Trump made the case for more sanctions to be levied against the DPRK, as well as the aforementioned state  sponsor of terrorism designation.

"The regime has made numerous lethal incursions in South Korea, attempted to assassinate senior leaders, attacked South Korean ships and tortured Otto Warmbier, ultimately leading to that fine young man's death."- President Donald Trump

Support for the move was praised by regional Asian countries, as well as from key members of the U.S. Congress, Ted Cruz (R), who earlier this year, filed legislation to re-designate North Korea as being state sponsors of terrorism.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio also praised the president’s decision.

“I commend the Administration for relisting North Korea as a State Sponsor of Terrorism.  Nuclear-armed North Korea has a long history of cooperating with Iran’s terror-sponsoring regime on ballistic missiles, continues to commit egregious human rights violations against its own people, and is responsible for the recent death of American citizen Otto Warmbier.  The United States and other countries, including China, must do everything in our power to end the Kim regime's growing nuclear and missile threats, and bring about a denuclearized Korean peninsula.”- Sen. Marco Rubio
