Bill Clinton and Charlie Crist
With another sex scandal hanging over the entire Democratic Party, the party of Bill Clinton is once again desperately trying to pick up the pieces of destruction after Florida Democratic Party Chairman Stephen Bittel stepped down last week amid allegations that he channeled the likes of Clinton and Anthony Weiner while in the workplace.
It has been a long two weeks for the Democrats, considering the photo of Sen. Al Franken sexually assaulting a sleeping Leeann Tweeden aboard a military transport flight in 2006, and now the Bittel fiasco.
While he wasn’t accused of puffing on any cigars in the presence of female interns or employees, Bittle decided to “exit stage left” after quite a few women accused him of inappropriate and creepy Clinton-like behavior such as giving young women the creeper eye, as well as playing ‘squeeze the naked breast-shaped stress-relief ball’ while at his desk.
If someone wanted to carve out a few busts on the side of a mountain somewhere, the Mt. Rushmore of Democratic Party sexual in appropriates who include the following players:
President Bill Clinton, for. Rep. Anthony Weiner, Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Sen. Al Franken, Stephen Bittel.
National and Florida Republicans have been quick to pounce on these Democratic Party sexual mishaps leading up to the 2018 midterm elections, calling for incumbent U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, who will undoubtedly face the re-election fight of his life against Florida Governor Rick Scott, to return any monies he has received from the handsy Sen. Al Franken and his committees.
But what’s even worse for Nelson is that he now faces an even more uncertain re-election path with a headless political party, and the prospect that Scott will cut his campaign a million-dollar check that could prove insurmountable for Democrats, considering the current political climate.
The 2018 election cycle will be key for Democrats to counter the Trump agenda, as the embattle political party will need to win the governor’s mansion in Florida, as well as retain Nelson’s Senate seat, if it hopes to win back the majority in that chamber of Congress.
Good luck with that.
