Arizona Governor Doug Ducey is heading south of the border to ‘Ole Mexico’ in hopes to shore up trade relations between his state and the Mexican government.

Ducey’s trip comes off the heals of President-elect Donald Trump’s historic win over Hillary Clinton, and his campaign promise to scrap NAFTA, not to mention take a look at all other trade deals.

“Mexico’s our No. 1 trading partner, times four, for the state of Arizona…We’ve built that relationship.”-Gov. Doug Ducey (R)

My all measures, NAFTA has benefited Mexico more than it has the U.S. That is the simple fact, and why Trump wants to get rid of it. NAFtA has been "Yuge" for Mexico.

Does Texas have a constitutional right to defy Supreme Court on protecting its border?

Trump has said repeatedly that he would re-negotiate and scrap some foreign trade deals, but at the very least, the president-elect will visit each deal, including NAFTA.

Trump and Ducey both agree that many Americans have lost their jobs because of trade deals like NAFTA, and would continue to do so if other trade deals like TPP were to get signed off on.

“I think the idea of free and fair trade is a real issue…

“The people have spoken on this,…And if there’s a way to improve on that, then we can look at those issues.”

While trade and immigration are inextricably tied in the Grand Canyon State, there is no word yet on whether will discuss illegal immigration with Mexican officials.

Again, illegal immigration and all crime that comes with it, which most times includes the cross-border transportation of goods coming from Mexico is a ‘muy grande’ problem for Arizonans.
