One of President-elect Donald Trump’s staunchest Republican adversaries during the 2016 election cycle was Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, who at one point even asked Trump to drop out of the presidential race.
Along with many other Trump detractors from both sides of the political aisle, Flake has eaten his fair share of crow after Trump beat Hillary Clinton.
Flake is now changing his tune a bit towards now-President-elect Donald Trump, and sounds like he has accepted the historic presidential win,
Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Flake said he would “assume the best, and look for the good” in a Trump Administration, adding that looked forward to working with Trump on “areas” the two men agreed on.
Flake added that he would work with Trump on other burdensome laws and regulations like the failing Obamacare law.
The commitment to deal with Obamacare, here in Arizona 14 of 15 counties only have one choice and premiums have skyrocketed. That needs to be dealt with and he’s committed to do so.
Also, a commitment to get rid of these regulations that are hampering businesses that’s got to be done and I think the president understands that well. I am encouraged by those statements and look forward to working with him on those things. I’m sure there will be disagreements along the way, and I’ll represent my state.-Sen. Jeff Flake (R)
