Washington, D.C.- Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R), who is unquestionably one of the loudest voices of opposition against President Obama’s foreign policy, especially the new “normalization” of relations between the U.S. and the Cuban regime.
Diaz-Balart supports President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign promise to keep the naval base prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba open, saying that it would “make no sense whatsoever” to bring those “enemy combatants” detained in at the GITMO prison to the U.S.
“It’s a perfect place, Guantanamo, to keep them.”
Diaz-Balart said that there was bipartisan support to keep those detainees from coming to the U.S., adding that President Obama is obsessed with closing down the prison, but that obsession, along with his legacy, “will not come to fruition” once Trump takes office.
