Democrats question FBI email probe, but not Arpaio's criminal charges

Democrats like former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano (D) are up-in-arms over FBI Director James Comey's decision to re-reviewing Hillary Clinton's emails just days before the November 8 general election.

The former Secretary of Homeland Security told the Arizona Republic that she found it "inexplicable" that Comey decided to continue looking into the matter was questionable, at best.

"It's inexplicable, totally outside Department of Justice policy. And I think sending a memo that raises innuendo, without any questions answered, is not what the FBI or the FBI director should be doing."

Napolitano continued:

"Something like this where you don't even have the ability to examine what it is that you think you have is, for obvious reasons, not good policy and not what the FBI should be doing." - Napolitano at the Arizona Democratic Party HQ in Phoenix

While Napolitano and Democrats can make the argument against Comey's Clinton email decision, Republicans can also make the same argument in the case of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was officially charged with criminal contempt of court charges two weeks before the November 8 election.

Is this political hypocrisy?

The two cases are very different, but President Obama's Department of Justice could have held off on filing the charges until after the election, but didn't, leaving many to speculate that the move was purely to politically motivated.

What do you think?

Do Democrats have a valid reason to complain?
