Democrats Push AZ as Early Voting Kicks Off

Did you vote yet? Early voting has started across the Grand Canyon State, and Democrats are taking full advantage. Historically, this is one of those things that Democrats do so well, so much so that Obama actually lost voting on election day on both of his elections. It was early voting that carried him across the line to landslide victories in 2008 and 2012.

This has been a weird cycle, to say the least, yet one of the most strange phenomena has been that Arizona remains a YUGE question mark as far as the presidential election is concerned. McCain, Romney, and Bush all won the state comfortably with margins of well over 8%, yet Donald Trump not only has not closed the deal but actually trails Hillary Clinton in the most recent polling.

Arizona is unique in that not only is there a "never Trump" component, but there is also a "never McCain" contingent. The emergence of both is creating huge divisions within the AZGOP making it harder to organize and get the vote out. AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham has been trying to unify the state party, but the rank and file of the party may not be listening.

These divisions do not seem to be going away anytime soon, and Democrats are taking full advantage by showing a unified front and engaging their third party groups and putting to use the massive voter drives they engaged earlier this month and in September.
