Ruben Gallego Urges Safety Measures Amidst Flooding Crisis

Just weeks after devastating floods claimed lives in Globe and Miami, the communities faced another crisis this past weekend when powerful storms brought heavy rains and fresh flooding to the area.

The new storm created dangerous conditions, with water overwhelming bridges and raising serious concerns about building safety.

Authorities had to evacuate or prepare to evacuate multiple neighborhoods, including Little Acres, residences near Russell Gulch, and Wheatfields.

Official Warnings

In response to the emergency, U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego issued a statement calling for residents to take the situation seriously.

"Heartbroken to see our Arizona communities hit again by flooding in Globe," Gallego shared on social media. "Please follow all evacuation orders and stay alert for updates. Our first responders are working hard to keep everyone safe."

His message highlighted the strain on communities that are still rebuilding from the previous month's disaster, when catastrophic monsoon storms struck in late September.

The September flooding had been severe. Governor Katie Hobbs declared a state of emergency for Gila County after monsoon storms swept through, killing at least three people and leaving others missing.

Emergency crews worked around the clock searching for survivors and assessing the extensive damage.

Just a few weeks after, residents are facing similar threats. Some buildings in Globe remain closed due to structural damage from the earlier flooding, and flash flooding continues to be a significant concern.

The repeated storms are part of a wet pattern affecting the entire area. Phoenix has received just over three inches of rain this October, hitting significant records for the state.
