Karrin Taylor Robson Welcomes David Schweikert's Gubernatorial Bid

Karrin Taylor Robson issued a statement this week welcoming U.S. Rep. David Schweikert to the Republican primary for Arizona governor, while drawing sharp contrasts between her campaign and the newly announced candidate.

"I welcome Congressman Schweikert to the race," Taylor Robson shared. "Arizona Republicans deserve a clear choice in this primary: a Trump-endorsed conservative outsider who built her success in the private sector, or yet another career politician."

As Cactus Politics previously reported, David Schweikert, who has served 14 years in Congress, becomes the third major candidate in the GOP primary alongside Karrin Taylor Robson and Andy Biggs. The winner will face Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs in the 2026 election.

Robson emphasized her campaign's early positioning in the race, emphasizing President Donald Trump's endorsement, a $2 million media campaign, and over 120 events held across Arizona.

"Our campaign is BUILT TO WIN," she argues.

Her senior campaign advisor, Jeff Glassburner, was more pointed in explaining Schweikert's candidacy.

He described Schweikert as "a career politician with a well-documented history of opposing President Donald Trump," and he referenced instances where the congressman allegedly didn't support Trump's legislative priorities, including missing a vote on "the Big Beautiful Bill."

Campaign Momentum

Robson's campaign also highlighted recent polling showing her leading Biggs by 10 points in the Republican primary, according to a survey by Noble Predictive Insights (NPI)  conducted before Schweikert entered the race.

The statement suggested that adding another congressman to the ballot would only strengthen Taylor Robson's position as the sole Trump-endorsed business executive in the field.
