Several Arizona lawmakers, including Representatives Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ), Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ), Eli Crane (R-AZ), and Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), celebrated the recent peace deal signed between Israel and Hamas on social media.
"In a day some thought would never come, the remaining Israeli hostages have been freed and returned to their families," Rep. Hamadeh shared, commending President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for leading the negotiations and asking God to bless the hostages and their families.
Rep. Ansari shared that she was "deeply relieved to see the release of all living hostages from Gaza and that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is holding."
"Now we must focus on enforcing the agreement and laying the groundwork for a viable Palestinian state alongside Israel, living in peace and security," Rep. Ansari added.
Rep. Crane responded to footage of Trump pumping his fist while departing from Jerusalem to Sharm El-Shiekh, Egypt, sharing, "Peace through strength works. Thank you, President Trump."
Sen. Kelly also weighed in, responding to footage of the hostages being reunited with their families. He called it "An amazing sight to see," adding that he is "so happy for the families who are reunited with their loved ones after two long years. "
"We share their joy and the sadness of the families whose loved ones didn't come back," Sen. Kelly continued.
The Arizona lawmakers join their fellow Representatives Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) and Greg Stanton (D-AZ), who had similarly commented on the peace agreement and hostage release.
"After two long years, all hostages held by Hamas terrorists on October 7 are being reunited with their families. This is a historic milestone, led by President Trump, for Israel and the Middle East," Rep. Ciscomani expressed. "As Israel celebrates this significant moment, we must ensure the remains of those murdered be returned home. And may we never forget that tragic day."
