Andy Biggs, Eli Crane, and Juan Ciscomani Condemn Chuck Schumer's Shutdown Remark

Representatives Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Eli Crane (R-AZ), and Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) condemned recent remarks by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on the government shutdown in social media posts.

In recent comments to Punchbowl News, Sen. Schumer suggested that Democrats are gaining political momentum by refusing to vote in favor of the "clean" continuing resolution (CR) passed by House Republicans in September.

"Every day gets better for us," Sen. Schumer commented. "It's because we've thought about this long in advance and we knew that health care would be the focal point on Sept. 30 and we prepared for it … Their whole theory was — threaten us, bamboozle us, and we would submit in a day or two."

The New York Senator's comments have sparked fierce criticism from Republicans and conservative figures on social media, with Rep. Biggs accusing the Senate Minority Leading of  "reveling in his shutdown." "@SenMarkKelly and @SenRubenGallego stand with their corrupt King Schumer. They should be ashamed of themselves. Our Senators should put Arizonans ahead of partisan political games and vote to reopen the government," he added on social media.

Rep. Crane accused Senate Democrats of "hurting people every day. And they feel increasingly good about it."

Rep. Ciscomani questioned Schumer, asking, "do you really think things are getting better each day?"

He referenced the recent back-and-forth between him and Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) over Congressional salaries by adding, "maybe for those still getting paid—like both of our AZ senators—but not for the families I've been talking to."

"This isn't a political game," Rep. Ciscomani concluded. "Real people are being hurt every day during this shutdown."

Ahead of the shutdown, Biggs, Crane, and Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) all suggested on social media that Democrats would be the instigators.

"We must keep the Government open, and legislate like true Patriots rather than hold American Citizens hostage, knowing that they want our now thriving Country closed," Biggs commented.

Similarly, Rep. Gosar warned that "if the fed govt shuts down, it will be for 1 reason: Senator Chuck Schumer."

"If Democrats are willing to shut down the government over taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries and healthcare for illegals, they can own the consequences," Rep. Crane added.
