Representatives Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and Eli Crane (R-AZ) expressed agreement with President Donald Trump on social media after Trump stated that he would not negotiate with Democrats on avoiding a government shutdown.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social, President Trump shared that "after reviewing the details of the unserious and ridiculous demands being made by the Minority Radical Left Democrats in return for their Votes to keep our thriving Country open, I have decided that no meeting with their Congressional Leaders could possibly be productive."
Trump highlighted how Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' (D-NY) demands include "over $1 Trillion Dollars in new spending to continue free healthcare for Illegal Aliens," "Transgender surgery for minors," and other proposals at odds with the Trump agenda.
However, he added that he looks forward "to meeting with them if they get serious about the future of our Nation." "We must keep the Government open, and legislate like true Patriots rather than hold American Citizens hostage, knowing that they want our now thriving Country closed," he urged.
"President Trump is right," Rep. Biggs agreed on social media. "Shutdown Schumer and his Senate Democrats are poised to shut down the government over taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries and benefits for illegal aliens. We will not capitulate to the radical Left's insane demands."
Similarly, Rep. Gosar expressed that "If the fed govt shuts down, it will be for 1 reason: Senator Chuck Schumer."
"Bowing 2 leftist pressure & terrified he will lose his Senate seat in a primary, Schumer is leading the effort 2 shut the govt down," Rep. Gosar continued. "Schumer is putting his political ambitions ahead of what's best for USA. Let's call it what it is: the Schumer Shutdown."
Finally, Rep. Crane warned that "if Democrats are willing to shut down the government over taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries and healthcare for illegals, they can own the consequences."
