Biggs Commends Trump for Deploying National Guard in D.C. to Reduce Crime

Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) commended President Donald Trump for deploying the National Guard in Washington, D.C., to confront its high crime rate in a recent appearance on Fox News' Faulkner Focus.

Host Harris Faulkner began the discussion by playing a recent clip from MSNBC's Morning Joe, where its co-host Mika Brzezinski warned Democrats were falling into a "trap"  in which criticizing Trump's actions would look as though they were defending criminals.

Rep. Biggs mocked the observation, saying, "I just get a kick out of that because they think it is a trap. They doubt the sincerity of President Trump, but President Trump gets it. D.C. is crime-ridden and it is dangerous. We have had people murdered that work on Capitol Hill. Neighborhoods are not safe. People do not want to go out."

"But the bottom line is," Rep. Biggs continued, "it is not a trap. The only trap that they get is that Donald Trump is in their mind. The reality is, we have got to bring safety to the city, and I think Donald Trump is doing it fantastically."

Faulkner then showed footage of D.C. residents who lost loved ones to violent crime expressing gratitude for the National Guard's presence in the city, which Faulkner called "common sense through heartbreak."

The Arizona Congressman agreed, saying, "It is terrible, it is tragic, and that is why the police union supports what President Trump has done."

"It is the leaders of D.C. who have betrayed the people," Biggs continued, "They have allowed this to go on. They have unprosecuted crimes; the Metropolitan Police cannot make all of the arrests they need to make because they have not received support from the D.C. Council and the D.C. Mayor. And what President Trump is doing is, he is giving them a pause here and giving them support."

Biggs concluded by saying that he is introducing legislation to extend the National Guard deployment in the nation's capital for six additional months.
