Schweikert Says Democrats are Inducing 'Apocalyptic Morality'

In an excerpt from comments made on the House floor, Arizona Rep. David Schweikert (R) unloaded on Democrats for inducing an "apocalyptic morality." The Arizona Republican discussed the United States' need to shrink the size of government. Attributing the roadblock to the Democratic Party, Rep. Schweikert signaled that prolonging this concern will lead to disastrous results for younger generations.

Earlier this year, Rep. Schweikert took to the House floor to argue that "if you want to save the country, learn the math." In the video he shared on social media, he continues to discuss "the math," warning that the goal of lawmakers should be to "make government smaller, more efficient, more moral."

According to the Arizona lawmaker, given the size of the government, "a child that's young today will be poorer than their parents." "The first generation in U.S. history," he warns, adding that "this young generation is going to be poorer."

This "apocalyptic morality," Rep. Schweikert blames on Democrats, suggesting that Republicans are trying to "walk people through the actual math of social security, the actual math of medicare, how we're gonna save it, what we have to do," but their work is to no avail as they'll only be met with "attack ads."

Instead, Rep. Schweikert accuses Democrats of caring "much more about winning the next election than saving this country, saving your retirement, the morality of you actually receiving the earned benefits you worked for."

Among other roles, Rep. Schweikert serves as the Vice Chairman on the bicameral Joint Economic Committee. According to information from the Department of Treasury, interests costs are rising much quicker than revenue, which significantly strains the budget.

Explaining this further on social media, Rep. Schweikert noted that "for every $1.00 the federal government takes in, we spend $1.37." This means that "interest accounts for more than HALF of the extra 37¢."
