Biggs Details Efforts to Delegitimize January 6th Committee

House Republicans, led by the resolute Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ), are steadfast in their mission to challenge the legitimacy of the January 6th Committee. They assert that the Committee selectively handled evidence and defied formation rules, a stance Biggs recently articulated on The Absolute Truth with Emerald Robinson.

"So why hasn't the Republican majority in the House passed a resolution to delegitimize the J6 committee yet? Because there's not enough Republicans who will vote for it, according to @RepAndyBiggsAZ," Robinson captioned the clip on X (formerly Twitter).

Representatives Biggs, Burlison, and Massie, in a strategic display of unity, have been working individually and collectively to declare the Committee illegitimate. Their joint efforts could potentially lead to the appeals of former Trump officials Steve Bannon, Peter Navarro, and Mark Meadows.

"The reality is that the Committee lost its legitimacy when it started going against the express rules that were passed in the House, by the Democratic majority, by the way, with a few Republicans. So, we tried to stop the J6 Committee because we viewed it as illegitimate from the start. Then, once it came forward, violating the rules. It did not have them numbered, did not have a ranking member, and [former Speaker Representative Nancy] Pelosi (D-CA) appointed her own members for the Republican side. That was a violation of the rules. And so we have to delegitimize that," Rep. Biggs explained.

Host Emerald Robinson asked if Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was bringing the resolution up for a vote, to which the Arizona Congressman replied that the Speaker was "pursuing that vigorously." She then inquired why delegitimization of the January 6th Committee was not done sooner.

Representative Biggs candidly revealed the challenges faced by the Republicans in their pursuit. He admitted, 'We did not have the votes. I do not even know if we have the votes now. That is the problem. So when you look at it, and even when [Representative Kevin] McCarthy (R-CA) was Speaker, I think he was considering it. But basically, we did not have the votes.'

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has been a vocal advocate for the move, recently speaking about delegitimizing the January 6th Committee with One America News Network, saying, "The January 6 Committee was illegitimate for a variety of reasons. But we have learned new things during Republican control of the House that I think compels us to remediate the constitutional infirmities that were borne upon the country by the January 6 Committee."
