Biggs, Crane Condemn Attack on Border Patrol Agent by Migrants

Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has been overwhelmed by the migrant crisis, and agents continue to face genuine danger. An unidentified agent was recently attacked near the Arizona border, prompting condemnation and heightened demands for security from Representatives Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Eli Crane (R-AZ).

Fox News reported the unidentified agent was arresting a group of illegal immigrants outside the city of San Luis when suspected human traffickers attacked him by throwing rocks. One managed to hit him above the eye, as a released photo showed the victim suffering a bleeding gash.

While CBP's Yuma Sector is investigating, little else has come forth about the incident.

Regardless, Rep. Crane strongly condemned the attack as a consequence of the Biden Administration's open border policy, saying "Arizonans have had enough."

"The policies of the Biden Admin continue to put our brave men and women at the border in harm’s way. Arizonans have had enough. Secure the border. Impeach Mayorkas," Rep. Crane posted to X (formerly Twitter).

Similarly, Rep. Biggs warned that "many folks streaming across our border right now are armed and dangerous" while wishing the agent "a speeding recovery."

"Wishing this agent a speedy recovery. Many folks streaming across our border right now are armed and dangerous. This lawlessness must come to an immediate halt,' said Rep. Biggs.

Arizona Republicans have been among the most vocal proponents of border security and have harshly condemned the Biden Administration's border policy. Rep. Biggs recently told Cactus Politics that fixing it is a matter of the White House willing to do so.

"He [President Biden] does not even have to do an executive order. He just tells Secretary Mayorkas, ‘get it done,’ and if Mayorkas does not get it done, then he can fire him like we want to fire him," Biggs told Cactus Politics.

Additionally, Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) also told us that the Mexican drug cartels, who have carved out a highly lucrative enterprise thanks to the border, will have to be dealt with by military force at this rate.

"I think it is the only way we are going to get this problem handled," said Gosar.

Fellow Republicans from Florida, however, have expressed pessimism, with Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) saying no border deal will be honored by the Biden Administration, and Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) said only when Donald Trump is back in the White House will the border be secured.
