One of the great mysteries of AZ politics this year has been why Steve Farley – a decent campaigner and a complete political animal – has allowed David Garcia to run circles around him.
Garcia lost to Diane Douglas! He’s hardly a giant killer! And yet this year, Garcia has racked up endorsement after endorsement and completely outmaneuvered Farley. It’s baffling how Farley could have allowed this to happen. Perhaps he deluded himself into thinking a modest financial advantage would catapult him to victory, but that’s not happening. Farley’s goofy ad about being a wonk ensures that won’t happen. Hello?! Has anyone seen what's going on in Democrat primaries around the country? Is wonkiness and experience what Democrat primary voters want want? No one except Farley seems to think so.
