Donald Trump Picks Dr. Ben Carson As HUD Secretary

While President-elect Donald Trump didn’t let the cat out of the bag as he did with his Secretary of Defense pick, the Trump transition team has just announced another unkept secret of who would be Trump’s choice for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

Former Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson is Trump’s man for the job.

The Trump transition team has made the announcement that President-elect Trump intends to nominate esteem and world renowned pediatric neurosurgeon to the job.

“I am thrilled to nominate Dr. Ben Carson as our next Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Ben Carson has a brilliant mind and is passionate about strengthening communities and families within those communities. We have talked at length about my urban renewal agenda and our message of economic revival, very much including our inner cities. Ben shares my optimism about the future of our country and is part of ensuring that this is a Presidency representing all Americans. He is a tough competitor and never gives up.”-President-elect Donald Trump

Carson, the popular grassroots leader who helped Trump shore up many conservative Republicans during the election cycle by quickly joining the “Make America Great Again” movement after dropping out of the presidential primary race, accepted the president-elect's decision to appoint him as HUD Secretary.

“I am honored to accept the opportunity to serve our country in the Trump administration… feel that I can make a significant contribution particularly by strengthening communities that are most in need. We have much work to do in enhancing every aspect of our nation and ensuring that our nation’s housing needs are met.”-Dr. Ben Carson

During the 2016 election cycle, we were able to catch up with Dr. Carson on a few occasions in Florida and in Iowa. After dropping out of the presidential primary race, Dr. Carson backed now-Congressman-elect Francis Rooney (R) in one of Florida’s most contentious congressional primary races.

After one of Rooney’s campaign events in Fort Myers, Florida, Carson all-but leaked his support for Trump.

Carson was asked if he vision of America was any different than that of Donald Trump’s.

Carson said that the two visions are “very similar,” and that he and Trump had “very different personalities” before reiterating that their views were “really quite similar.”

When asked if he was giving Trump “guidance” on his speech deliver, a smirking Carson stated, “I think we can all use some coaching in that area.”
