Democrats Continue Targeting Trump’s “Backwards Agenda”

One of Arizona’s rising political stars, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D), who is rumored to be eyeing a run for the U.S. Senate in 2018, has decided to  take on President-elect Donald Trump, again.

Earlier this month, Gallego took to the House floor to rip into Trump, calling him a “threat to our values, our people, and our national identity.”

Gallego even went as far as to call Trump a “sexual predator” among other things, before being asked to “refrain from engaging in personalities towards the president-elect.”

Now the former U.S. Marine has once again set his sights on Trump, this time taking to Twitter to promote an opinion story written by Vox’s Ezra Klein.

The story questions Democrats for not acting winners, even after Trump and Republicans on the presidency.

The story, as well as Gallego, contends that Democrats should be holding their heads up high because they won the popular vote, but lost the electoral college.

This is true, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, but if you look at the make-up of the country, Clinton’s net vote totals only bested Trump in the densely populated, Democratic-leaning areas of Los Angeles County, the San Francisco Bay area, the New York City area, and three counties in south Florida-Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach.

The three Florida counties are heavily saturated with retiring and transplanted Northeast Democrats.

California U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D), who is leaving the Senate this year, thinks that the electoral college needs to be abolished.

"In my lifetime, I have seen two elections where the winner of the general election did not win the popular vote…When all the ballots are counted, Hillary Clinton will have won the popular vote by a margin that could exceed two million votes, and she is on track to have received more votes than any other presidential candidate in history except Barack Obama. This is the only office in the land where you can get more votes and still lose the presidency. The Electoral College is an outdated, undemocratic system that does not reflect our modern society, and it needs to change immediately. Every American should be guaranteed that their vote counts.”

Critics of Boxer and others will say that Democrats are just sore losers because their candidate lost.
