Arizona Democrats armed their immigration agenda worked in earnest to defeat presidential candidate Donald Trump, Senator John McCain and Sheriff Joe Arpaio, but fell short on election night.
While Democrats were able to defeat Arpaio, their attempt to can Trump and McCain failed miserably.
Donald Trump is now President-elect, and McCain defeated Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D) by a margin of 53-41 percentage points to win re-election to the U.S. Senate.
But will McCain’s win mean that he will work with Trump, or will he stay defiant against the new President-elect?
McCain is going to have to play nice with Trump, and I suspect the McCain will realize that he can help himself and his legacy by working with Trump on immigration reform.
Trump wants to build a wall, McCain offers a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
Something has to give here.
