Trump Gives AZ Voters Incorrect Voting Info

Donald Trump took to Twitter Oct. 3, telling Arizona voters to get out and vote, because some of their neighbors already have. Problem is, no ballots have gone out in the state.

Voters can request an early ballot until Oct. 28 via their county elections office. Ballots will be mailed out Oct. 12, and there will be some early voting polling places open around the state.

Voter registration is open until Oct. 10.

It is unclear where the Trump campaign received their information regarding early voting in the state.

The confusion could be attributed to what appears to be a lack in ground game. PBS NewsHour reported Sept. 2, Clinton and the Democratic party boast 291 campaign offices as compared to Trump and the Republican party’s 88.

In a state where there are propositions on the ballot certain to draw out Democrat voters, Republicans are sure to face a challenge in November.

While Trump was in Arizona this past June, some of those on his field staff reported having trouble gaining access to the event held at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. The issues were never ironed out, and as a result, there was no table set up to recruit volunteers to work the state and mobilize voters.

One report suggests that Romney’s lack of voter mobilization cost him the 2012 election.

“[The] Obama campaign’s mobilization tactics increased turnout among targeted Democrats by about 1.7 percentage points, relative to independents. The Romney campaign was also effective, but less so: their supporters were about 0.6 percentage points more likely to turn out than non-targeted independents.”
