Sheldon Adleson has just made his play giving the NO on Prop 205 effort a big boost in Arizona. The fight against legalizing marijuana in the state just received half a million dollars from the Las Vegas billionaire in a last ditch effort to turn the tide of the election.

Prop 205 has been gaining steam in recent months and in what looks to be a year suited for Democrats in the state, the NO on 205 forces must be a tad nervous about the prospects. The spokeswoman for Arizonans for Responsible Drug Policy said in a statement:

“We’re grateful for every donation we receive to help stop this bad policy from becoming law and we’re proud to have the strong backing of business leaders and philanthropists, like the Adelsons, who understand the disastrous consequences of passing Prop 205,"

Other large donors to the NO on 205 efforts include $1 milllion from the Discount Tire, a half a million from Insys Therapeutics, and $115,000 from Smart Approaches to Marijuana Action Inc., an organization which advocates for "health-first approach to marijuana policy."

Does Texas have a constitutional right to defy Supreme Court on protecting its border?

Should the proposition pass on November 8th, adults over the age of 21 would be legally able to posses and use up to 1 oz of marijuana recreatinally, as well as grow their own plants at home. Marijuana use in public would still be illegal, however they would be a petty crime garnaring not much more than a ticket.

The real question which will likely have the prop tied up in court proceeding for years is what to do about DUI and DWI situations.
